In my experience, the first step in taking control of your money is to have the motive to change. That’s a really big one because if we don’t have a reason to change, it’s pretty easy to stay stuck until it gets too uncomfortable to stay there.

But let’s not wait that long!

Let’s take a stand now and find that motivation. Really explore what it is that you want, why you want it, how you’re going to make it happen, and how awesome it will be once you’re there.

Can you picture it? If not, build a picture of it – in your mind, on a vision board, on a Pinterest board, a scrapbook or a notebook. Just make sure the picture is really clear and something that you can recall or see easily.

A huge step in this process is to have belief in yourself. You need to believe that you can change your spending habits and your money management patterns.

Believe that you can do anything that you set your mind to – because I’m pretty sure that you can.

You just need to have trust in yourself and a plan. Remember that you’re a kickass woman who can achieve anything… and if that doesn’t ring true right now, you might need to dig a little a deeper to uncover your true self.

Give yourself a pep talk, stick some affirmations on the bathroom mirror, write a list of all the good things you’ve achieved – whatever works for you, just do it.

You’ll get there. Just keep your motivation clear and believe in yourself.

Be your own biggest cheer squad.
