Clutter or keepsake?

If you’re anything like me, you’re great at holding onto things.
Ideas. Opportunities. Documents. Furniture. That chair that might be useful one day.

But when it comes to our homes, there’s a fine line between meaningful keepsakes and everyday clutter — and the difference matters more than we think.

A keepsake has a story.
It triggers a memory, an emotion, or a sense of pride. It earns its place because it adds value beyond just taking up space.

Clutter, on the other hand, is often future-focused:
“I might need this.”
“I’ll deal with it later.”
“It cost too much to throw away.”

Sound familiar?

The interesting thing is that the environments we live in quietly shape how we think, work and rest. Just like a cluttered inbox slows decision-making, a cluttered home can subtly increase stress and reduce clarity — especially for business owners already juggling a lot.

This doesn’t mean your home needs to look like a display suite. It means being intentional.

A simple question to ask as you decorate or declutter:
👉 Does this support the life I’m living now — or the one I’ve already outgrown?

Design isn’t about having more.
It’s about choosing better.

Because when your space feels calm, considered and aligned, it becomes a place that supports your energy — not drains it.

And sometimes, letting go of “stuff” is really about making room for what’s next.

What’s one item in your home you’ve realised is clutter… but you’ve been calling a keepsake?
