Is less more when it comes to your home?
There was a distinct movement a few years back that bigger was better. In some instances and for some people, this is still the case. They want the large home with space to spread out. A room for everything and plenty of room for everyone. For some, it’s a status symbol. For others, it’s what they love or need or want.
But in recent years, there has been a distinct move towards smaller homes for a number of reasons. These include:
* lower price
* same price but better location
* less housework and maintenance
* lifestyle
* change in family circumstances
* change in priorities and taste
Whatever your preference is and whatever your budget leans towards, it’s important that you find a home that suits your needs and wants. The cost of getting it wrong is too high, with stamp duty, lending costs, moving costs plus the emotional toll and time.
If you don’t love the home or see a vision that it could become your dream home, or even if see that it’s a great stepping stone towards your dream home, don’t do it. Wait until you find the right property, that ticks as many boxes as possible.
Big or small, it doesn’t really matter. It’s what works for you and your family. Now and for the next 5-10 years – or longer.
Open your mind when you’re going to open homes and see what feels and looks right.
