I’m a real list girl and there’s no better time for lists than Christmas.

I’ve just written my list to prepare our home for the onslaught of Christmas and school holidays with 4 boys in the house, so thought I’d share it with you.

  1. Clean out the fridge, because that thing is going to be pumping over the next 6 weeks. Get rid of anything that’s out of date, half eaten or unlikely to be eaten (have a pot luck dinner if you’ve got a lot to get rid of)
  2. Clean out the freezer – same as above.
  3. Write a shopping list of staples and easy to throw together meals and healthy snacks to restock the pantry, fridge and freezer.
  4. Prep the area that you will be doing most of your entertaining. Minimalise the decor (unless they’re Christmas decorations), so you’ll have less to tidy and maintain.
  5. Give the house a good clean (or delegate a room or two to each family member). You can even keep that delegated list to each family member to maintain over the holiday period.
  6. Give the yard a good tidy up (or delegate as above)
  7. Get rid of unwanted, unused, unworn or too small clothes, toys, stuff so you can create space for more gifts or just less stuff.
  8. Sit back and relax, waiting for the magic to happen.

The Christmas countdown is on. Being prepared is my key to preventing last minute stress.
