For so many of us, Christmas is a beautiful time of year to spend with loved ones. If we have young kids, there’s the whole excitement of Santa Claus and all the joy and excitement he brings. If we have teenagers, it’s the challenge of getting them out of bed and smiling before noon (truly a Christmas miracle if both of these things occur simultaneously).

If we have elderly parents, it’s about making the day special for them, just as they made so many Christmases special for you.

If we have recently experienced loss or if we have a fractured family or relationships, or we’re struggling financially or mentally, or even if we can’t be with family or loved ones for any reason, the day is hard. Even the concept of Christmas can be stressful and challenging.

If you’re in that boat, please reach out and get support through friends or professional organisations. If you know someone who is or could be struggling, please check in with them. Make sure they know they’re not alone. Maybe you could even set another place at your table for them.

Most importantly of all, be kind. Emotions run high at this time of year, so tread gently, speak kindly, and love generously.

I hope you enjoy the holiday season, and I hope that the new year brings success, happiness and good health.
